Grayson Throckmorton
Science Department Chair; Director of the STEM Institute

Grayson Throckmorton (he/they) serves as Sequoyah’s Science Department Chair and Director of the STEM Institute. Originally from Dayton, Ohio, he ventured to California for his BA at Stanford University, majoring in Human Biology and Theater & Performance. Following his undergraduate studies, Grayson taught science at a public charter school in South Los Angeles while concurrently earning his MA in Education from Loyola Marymount University, focusing on Educational Policy and Administration.

As the STEM Department Chair at the School of Los Angeles, Grayson spearheaded the development of innovative courses spanning from Restoration Ecology to Political Epidemiology, while also supporting the integration of cutting-edge topics like Artificial Intelligence. Simultaneously, he contributed to clinical research endeavors, particularly in SARS-CoV-2 testing and predictive gene studies concerning prostate cancer treatment. Grayson is driven by a deep-rooted belief in the transformative potential of STEM inquiry, emphasizing collaborative learning and real-world exploration. Outside of teaching, Grayson’s passions include musical theater, improv, cycling, coffee, and being a committed AMC Stubs A-List member.
