Maisha is delighted to be a part of the Sequoyah community. While pursuing her BA in Television Production at Howard University, Maisha grew passionate about education. She began working with their Center for Academic Reinforcement and Pre-College Program.
After graduation, Maisha returned to her hometown and enrolled at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she earned her MEd in Instructional Leadership and worked with the TRiO/Academic Support Summer Bridge Program.
For more than 20 years, Maisha has been a classroom teacher in fourth through eighth grades in public, charter, and independent schools. Outside the classroom, she has been a Math Instructional Coach and a stay-at-home mom.
In her free time, Maisha enjoys reading, watching movies, soaking up the sun, and hanging out with her husband and daughter.
