The Application Process
Sequoyah’s application process is holistic; we ask for multiple records and data points so we can get a full picture of each applicant.
It is strongly recommended that parents/guardians of kindergarten applicants attend an information session in advance of their interview.
Step One: Interest Form
Complete an online Interest Form to receive invitations to events and reminders about the process. Our Family Portal will generate an email to set up a log-in so you can manage your visits and application.
Step Two: Apply Online
Begin the application using the log-in information provided after submitting the online Interest Form. Follow the assigned application checklist steps when applying.
- K-8 applications are to be filled out by a parent/guardian.
- Seventh and eighth grade applicants also have a student section to complete.
- Please note: Kindergarten applicants must be five years old prior to September 1.
Step Three: Student Records
Applicants for grades 2 through 8 may submit a school records release form to their current school to request that an official transcript be sent to Sequoyah, which may be emailed or by the school registrar through the online checklist. Parents/guardians of kindergarten and first grade applicants may submit school records if they are available.
Step Four: Recommendation Forms
From this step in the application checklist, submit a form to the applicant’s teachers requesting they complete Sequoyah’s recommendation form.
- Applicants for grades K-6 need to obtain an online teacher recommendation form.
- Seventh and eighth grade applicants will request two (2) recommendation forms—one from a math teacher and one from an English or social studies teacher.
Step Five: Applicant Interviews
Once the application has been submitted, kindergarten applicant parents/guardians will be contacted to schedule an interview. Kindergarten applicant parents/guardians should plan to attend an information session prior to their interview.
Applicants and/or applicant parent/guardians for grades 1 through 8 are interviewed only on a space-available basis.
We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, gender, gender identity, or family structure in the administration of our educational, personnel or admissions policies, financial aid programs, or other school-administered programs.
Indexed Tuition
Sequoyah’s Indexed Tuition program allows families to pay a tuition level based on financial means. We dedicate a significant portion of operating revenue to support the tuition index, with 30 to 40 percent of our families paying less than the maximum tuition level.
Applicants planning to apply for Indexed Tuition should do so at the same time they apply for admission.

Valuing Differences
“Two puzzle pieces that fit together aren’t the same. They’re different. But they fit together.” Sequoyah junior high school students share about the value of differences in their lives and the world around them.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion are founding values of the school and are integral to all stages of teaching and learning.
