Calvin Nickelson

  Junior High Language Arts Specialist

Calvin Nickelson (he/him) joins the K-8 campus as its new junior high language arts teacher. Calvin grew up in New England, with a brief stint in Atlanta for middle school, before studying psychology at Brown University. After graduating, he joined Teach for America’s 2018 Corps in the Bay Area, where he taught fifth grade. He then moved into middle school to teach English/Language Arts at a prep school in San Francisco. There he learned the joy of creating learning experiences for students, understanding both their great potential and their need for clarity and support. After a brief stint working in entertainment, he is thrilled to return to the classroom to continue teaching English to junior high students, and we are thrilled to have him! When he’s not teaching, he can be found out on a run or, more likely, at his local AMC theater, diet root beer in hand.
