Sequoyah School Stewardship Report of Giving

Thank You!

We are grateful to our donors and volunteers who contribute their time, talent, and treasure in support of Sequoyah’s mission to challenge the mind, nurture the heart, and celebrate human dignity.

From the Head of School

Dear Sequoyah community,

One of the beautiful truths of Sequoyah is that your children are not merely preparing for life; they are living it—fully and vividly—right now. Our education seeks to protect their daily play, discovery, and connection while nurturing them as the ethical citizens and critical thinkers we need to cultivate for a complex world.

In the past year, high schoolers have partnered with civic leaders on the future of the 710 corridor, while our younger K-8 students care for one another through mentorship, inclusive play, and building relationships. Across our K-12 ecosystem, they practice thoughtful, connected ways of being in the world. Holding both truths—childhood as sacred and the future as calling—is part of what makes our community unique. It is the bigger ruler from present to future we choose to carry together.

Philanthropy is how adults show that same commitment to helping one another. Through the Annual Campaign, you support the daily experiences that make this year rich and wonderful for our kids. Through long-term commitments to give and through our endowments, you extend that care into the future, strengthening endowments that promise great teaching and access for generations. Your generosity helps bolster our students’ lives today and their possibilities tomorrow.

Thank you for investing your trust in us. At Sequoyah, every project, camping trip, and conversation helps students think deeply, care fiercely, and engage with the world’s complexities—and your generosity shapes a school where children thrive now and grow into people who make a difference.

Thank you for walking beside our students—and beside us—in this good and hopeful work.

From the Board of Trustees

When I first visited Sequoyah, eager to find a school for my then five-year-olds, there were no junior high buildings and the high school was still just an idea. There was a beautiful, indoor/outdoor K-8 campus, inspiring teachers, and students who spoke about their education with self-assuredness. Now, as my seniors approach graduation, Sequoyah has grown to three campuses, the high school is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and faculty and students continue to impress. I remain enthralled with Sequoyah, 13 years after that first visit, and I am excited for the future families who will share this experience.

Ensuring Sequoyah continues to lead in progressive education well into the future is the primary role of the Board of Trustees. We work to secure the leadership and financial resources Sequoyah needs to fulfill its mission, and by every measure, the school is thriving—powered by exceptional faculty, growing endowments, a diverse and inclusive community, and graduates who carry our Habits of Mind into the world. With this strong foundation, and guided by our new strategic plan, Sequoyah is well positioned to meet the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Your generosity is vital to this continued success. Philanthropy helps make possible a K-12 education that nurtures thinkers, creators, and compassionate leaders who will advance a more promising and equitable future. It also fortifies the resources that will allow Sequoyah to sustain its progressive vision while continuing to innovate.

On behalf of the Board, thank you for investing in this remarkable place. Together we can ensure that Sequoyah’s mission-driven, experiential education is accessible to future generations of learners.
