Extracurriculars and Clubs

From Gryphon Media Company’s breaking news and satirical publications to creative computing (coding and engineering) to debate and improv comedy, students are encouraged to and supported in building interest and confidence with new activities, while developing a range of skills and just having fun.

H2GP

The Horizon Hydrogen (H2) Grand Prix is a comprehensive science and engineering program that gives students from all over the world the opportunity to apply their talents as they learn about environmental sustainability, renewable energy and alternative fuels, through a variety of science experiments and curricular materials. Sequoyah’s team took first in the United States and fourth in the world in 2024!

JPL Invention Challenge

JPL Invention Challenge

The Jet Propulsion Labs (JPL) Invention Challenge seamlessly integrates creativity, teamwork, design, fabrication, testing, and complex problem-solving into an engaging and rewarding competition. Students collaborate to develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges, following the Design Thinking process, much like engineers at JPL.

Debate

The high school’s Debate Program prepares students to compete in both the High School Public Debate Program run by Claremont McKenna College and events within the East Los Angeles chapter of the National Speech & Debate Association.
