Myv Hopton-Ahmed (she/her) is thrilled to be joining Sequoyah as a science specialist. Myv loves engaging with young scientists and exploring the natural world with awe, curiosity, and a science notebook! Born in central Ohio to a family of artists and educators, Myv spent many happy hours growing up dancing ballet and at play rehearsals. She got her undergraduate degree in Environmental Biology from Columbia University, and then a graduate certificate in landscape architecture from USC. While volunteering making school gardens, she realized that she really wanted to return to her roots and become an educator and never looked back. She has spent the last twelve years as a science educator at Mayfield Junior School, working with students in grades K-8. When not teaching, Myv enjoys traveling, dancing, playing the violin, and exploring the outdoors with her wonderful husband and two children. She feels very fortunate to be joining the Sequoyah faculty, and can’t wait to get to know everyone in the community!
