Rachel (she/her) serves as a math teacher, learning support and transition coordinator, and advisor to the Mixed-Race Affinity Group at Polytechnic School. Since starting her independent school career as a math teacher, coach, and dorm parent at a boarding school in Massachusetts in 1986, she has worked in admission, financial aid, college counseling, and academic administration, serving as academic dean at Miss Porter’s School in Connecticut prior to moving to Pasadena. Rachel holds a BA in sociology from Yale and an EdM in administration, planning, and social policy from Harvard. Rachel credits her experience as the granddaughter of a public school teacher and principal, daughter of a math teacher and school head, spouse of a school head, and mother of an independent school teacher for cultivating her passion for teaching, education, and working with kids of all ages.
