Luciana Lang Taylor (she/her) is an equity-minded, capacity-building instructional leader with more than 20 years of rich experience in the K-12 education sector. Her professional expertise lies at the intersection of STEM education, teacher development, and educational research, with a career-long dedication to equitable teaching and learning. Since 2023, Luciana has served as an adjunct professor, fieldwork supervisor, and dissertation reader at Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena, California. Merging scientific thinking with an affinity for data-driven processes, she champions the use of “inquiry cycles” and “teacher-as-researcher” theoretical models to help educators formalize the reflective process, engage in classroom-critical action research, and establish active inquiry communities for sustainable pedagogical growth.
Luciana’s extensive background spans both public and private schools across Texas and California, where she has primarily taught secondary science and research courses while assuming critical instructional leadership roles. Her previous leadership contributions include serving as a science department chair, biology curriculum developer, standardized test item equity reviewer, academic decathlon coach, professional development leader, and participant on several instructional leadership committees and task forces. She holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master’s in Science Education from the University of Texas at Dallas, and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from the University of Southern California’s Rossier School of Education, specializing in Teacher Education in Multicultural Settings.
As a deeply invested parent of two K-8 students, Luciana is a highly active member of the Sequoyah School and broader Pasadena communities. Within Sequoyah, she has volunteered as an admissions ambassador, room parent, parent education committee member, and convener for the Black/African Diaspora Family Affinity group. Her broader civic dedication and advocacy are reflected in her leadership roles with Private School Village (PSV), PSV Pasadena, and service as a goodwill ambassador for the Tournament of Roses Rose Parade.
