Elizabeth Cantwell (she/her) has a B.A. in English from Yale University and a Ph.D. in Literature & Creative Writing from USC. Her doctoral work looked at the mathematical concept of infinity in both Early Modern and contemporary poetry. She comes to Sequoyah from The Webb Schools, where she worked for over a decade, teaching a wide variety of interdisciplinary Humanities courses, running the literary magazine, taking students on hikes, and eventually chairing the Humanities department.
Outside of the classroom, Elizabeth has written two books of poetry and many essays on film; she sees teaching as essential inspiration for her own personal work. She hopes to bring her passion for experimental literature, horror movies, birdwatching, Twin Peaks, and long novels to her students, whether formally or tangentially. She is thrilled to join the Sequoyah community as a faculty member after having been a Sequoyah parent for many years.
