“As the school has shaped us, remember that you have also made an impact. You have hosted pop-up shops, you created wonderful music and art, you were the stars in our theater department and led scientific research with the Stem Institute. Most of you have also engaged in vigorous debates with admin over the parking situation. ”You have been resilient and kind, and your presence here will be remembered. I want to also thank the teachers and admin for being such great guides for us all. You truly care about our individual success, and our community wouldn’t be the same without your dedication.”

“I couldn’t have expected what was to come at Sequoyah. I couldn’t have expected getting better at meditation through morning meeting (also couldn’t have expected morning meeting). Couldn't have expected how much I would learn from spending time alone during solo. Couldn’t have expected how much gossip and advice I would receive while hanging out in the girls bathroom (a sacred space). And lastly overall I couldn’t have expected the odd, hilarious, and thoughtful people I would be lucky enough to encounter here. “

“Growing up at Sequoyah has been a strange experience. We’ve got a weird setup here, and I have no idea if I’ll be able to stop calling teachers by their first names and start taking standardized tests. “But, on the other hand, I feel comfortable talking to adults in a way that many peers from other schools don’t, and I think my essays have dramatically increased in quality (even if I never think so as I’m writing them).”
