An educator for almost two decades, Laura step into a new role supporting the continued growth and refinement of Sequoyah’s Middle School program after serving as Lead Teacher of the Out Back since 2020. This position reflects both the evolving needs of this important developmental stage and the tremendous leadership Laura already brings to the community.
Her work now extends across the Middle School—partnering closely with teachers, supporting students and families, strengthening communication and student support systems, and helping align across the academic and social experience of the division. As we continue building a more cohesive and intentional Middle School program, this role will help support everything from student culture and belonging to collaboration across grade levels and the day-to-day systems that help young adolescents thrive.
Laura’s past experience includes working as a naturalist and developing place-based learning curriculum, teaching pre-kindergarten for the South Pasadena School District and working for several years as an associate teacher in Egret’s Perch. She earned her degree in nature and culture from UC Davis, where she studied California history and ecology, among other disciplines. Laura finds inspiration in fields of flowers, garden corners, the redwood forest, and cool morning bike rides along the Arroyo Seco.
